Thanksgiving

***

During a truly horrible Thanksgiving, a young teenage (13)
girl wishes for a knight in shining armor to save her.
One comes to her rescue, but what happens after catches
both of them by surprise. BTW, although there is sex in
this story, it's much more of a romance story intended
for the lonely hearts out there. (M/f-teen, 1st,

A bell rang and a gong sounded that woke Joe from his
sleep. Automatically, he sat upright, shifted to his
right, inserting his feet into his boots. He then
reached down, pulling up his pants from where they were
bunched up around his boots. Like the other
firefighters in the dorm, he then shuffled towards the
truck bay as he shook off the sleep from his eyes.

A moment later, he was on the truck, putting on his
jacket and hood. As the truck screamed down the
streets, he had heard they were responding to a house
fire, with possible trapped victims. He checked his air
pack, which read "full charge".

A moment later, the truck stopped. At the behest of the
first arriving truck Captain, their truck hooked up to
a fire hydrant down the block from the fire. With two
lines hooked up, they roared down the street and
stopped in front of the blazing house. While Chuck and
Steven hooked up the hose connections, Joe pulled on
his airpack, slipped on his face mask, and put on his
helmet. His Captain had already told Joe to join
another firefighter from the first truck in a search of
the blazing house.

Joe looked at the house. It was a large wooden two
story Victorian era house, the top floor of which was
fully involved. The other firefighter waved at Joe from
a location near the front door. Joe headed over and the
two men quickly set a plan for their search.

After kicking the front door in, they observed a
hallway going down past the central staircase. First,
they found a closet. After finding no one inside, they
quickly moved on. The next room they found was the
kitchen. The kitchen was very full of smoke. The other
firefighter used an infra red scanner to look for
bodies. After a long moment, there was no success, so
they moved on. Adjacent to the kitchen, they found a
small bedroom.

The bed looked like someone had been in it, and had
hurriedly jumped out. The infra red scanner was again
used. There was a reading behind a door. Joe opened the
door to reveal a closet. A small girl, in pajamas, was
lying on the floor of the closet. Barely conscious, the
girl looked up and made eye contact with Joe. Joe acted
quickly, pulling a blanket from the bed and using it to
wrap the girl. He lifted the girl, whom he guessed to
be seven or eight, from the bed and headed outside with
her.

He took the girl directly to the truck cab. The Captain
had seen Joe carry the girl and was already calling for
a medic unit. Joe placed the girl in the truck cab and
took off his face mask and placing it on the girl.
Almost instantly, she started coughing. Joe held the
mask on her, monitoring her breathing.

A long moment later, the medical unit arrived. Joe
picked up the girl and took her directly to the
Ambulance. The medic crew took over treatment, giving
the girl oxygen and monitoring her vital signs. Joe
headed back to the house, found the firefighter he went
into the house with, and inquired about any other
survivors. The other firefighter shook his head. Joe
looked up at the house and saw that the second story
had collapsed into the first. Joe headed back to the
truck. In a cargo compartment, in a wheel well, was a
bag of teddy bears. Joe took one of the teddy bears out
of the bag and headed to the Ambulance.

The girl was sitting upright in a stretcher. She had an
oxygen mask on her face. Joe gave her the teddy bear,
which she instantly hugged to her chest. Joe smiled in
a heroic effort to keep from crying. He knew the girl
had lost family members in the fire and that she was
now going to have a much more difficult life. It had
been a heaviness in Joe's heart that he never had a
child. He briefly remembered when he had applied for,
and been turned down for, being an adoptive parent. The
ache had faded, but remained. Being the professional
that he was, he shook it off and walked away from the
Ambulance and found a hose crew that needed help.

It was just past two in the morning when the truck got
back to the station. After a little post call cleanup,
Joe was able to climb into bed for a nap before shift
change. He had a big day ahead of him, and being
somewhat sleep deprived wouldn't help.

***

Julie stirred from the bliss of slumber. The sunlight
was already filtering in through the flimsy curtains in
her room. She remembered that it was Thanksgiving
because she didn't have to go to school today. She
thought of the other kids in school and the type of
Thanksgiving they would have. She knew her holiday
wasn't going to be so great.

Two months before, Julie's mom had let her new
boyfriend move in. The man didn't care much for Julie,
and it seemed his main purpose in the house was to get
Julie's mom to drink, get drunk, and have sex. It is
said that two is company, three is a crowd, and Julie
was very much iced out. Her relationship with her
mother hadn't been great to start with. Since the
divorce between her parents, Julie's mom had been pre-
occupied with work, and her own social life, leaving
little time for Julie. Julie considered the day before
her, and she decided that it would just be best to get
out of the house, so she got up from bed and got
dressed.

After she was dressed, Julie quickly and quietly
slipped into the kitchen. She looked in the
refrigerator, and didn't see anything except
condiments, a small block of cheese, half a case of
beer, and half a loaf of bread. Julie moved quickly,
cutting a few slices of cheese and placing them on the
bread. She wrapped the sandwich in plastic, slipped it
in her jacket pocket and headed for the door. She had
only made it a few steps when her mom and Jughead
appeared.

Julie could tell that the two adults had already been
drinking. Julie winced when she saw them.

"Where you going honey?" her mom asked.

"Out" Julie replied.

"When you gonna be back?"

Julie shrugged her shoulders and headed for the door.

"Answer your mother" Jughead demanded.

"I don't know when I'll be back, can I go now?"

"Let her go" her mom said.

"Thank you" Julie whispered under her breath as she
opened the door.

Julie headed out into the cold. Smithville was a small
town anyway, and on a holiday there wouldn't be
anything to do. Julie just decided to go window
shopping along Main Street. That could keep her busy
for a while.

***

Joe had consumed a lot of coffee since shift change at
the station. He had promised a sister that he would go
to the house of some distant relatives, two hours drive
away. He had never met the relatives, and he wasn't
crazy about the whole setup. His sister was forever
setting up this kind of thing. She was great with
people, and he never was. It bothered him that she had
set up this kind of thing and he didn't look forward to
faking being interested in these people. He saw the
highway exit he needed, so he took it.

***

The sandwich had long since been gone and Julie was
still hungry. The morning's cold bit at her wrists as
she kept her hands in her pockets. The cold also seeped
through her jeans and stung her legs. Julie looked at
the window display, trying to concentrate on each part
of the display so as to ignore the gnawing hunger and
freezing cold.

It was a terrible way for a thirteen year old to spend
a holiday. She cursed that she still had five years
until adulthood. Another five years until she could
escape that home that had had become prison like. She
yearned for freedom. She knew that just running away
wouldn't help. Her father had been uncommunicative for
two years now. Julie's mom hadn't requested child
support, and thus, her father had no visitation rights.
He had lost interest in his own daughter, and that hurt
Julie. Why couldn't he be like a knight in shining
armor and rescue her from the hell she was in?

***

Joe was lost. He looked again at the map quest printout
and nothing made sense. His destination was Willowbend
Court, but he was now at the intersection of Willowbend
and Main, and the addresses just didn't make sense.
While he tried to figure it out, movement to his left
caught his eye.

The car pulled up next to a girl on a sidewalk and an
animated conversation seemed to be going on between the
girl and someone in the car. Suddenly a man bolted from
the car as the girl ran. He quickly caught the girl and
started slapping her silly. Joe floored his car and
pulled up right in front of the man's car. Joe leaped
out of his car and ordered the man to back away from
the girl.

"What are you, the cops or something?"

"Something" Joe replied, "now let her go."

"Fuck you!!" the man said, appearing to try to drag the
girl by the hair to his car.

Something snapped in Joe and he stepped over and
punched the man dead in his face. The man fell to the
sidewalk, releasing the girl. Joe looked down at the
girl, whose face was red from the violence and she was
at a full cry. Joe looked over at the man: "Are you her
father?"

"NO, HE'S NOT!!" the girl screamed.

"What's your connection to the girl?" Joe asked.

"Her mother wants her home" the man replied.

Joe could smell alcohol from the man, who had risen to
a crouching position. Joe saw the man lunge and he
quickly took both evasive and defensive action. He
punched the man in the head as he wheeled back, and
then landed five more punches to the man's face before
the man collapsed in front of his car.

"What's going on here?" Joe asked.

"He's my mom's boyfriend. He wants me to come home to
cook for them because they're too drunk to cook
themselves."

"Does he always hit you like that?"

"No, he's slapped me on the butt a couple of times, but
that's the first time he's hit me."

"Where's your dad?"

"I don't know."

"What's your name?"

"Julie."

"Julie, where's the Police Station in this town?"

"It's up Main Street and two blocks over once you get
to Elm."

"Come with me. I don't want to leave you here when he
wakes up."

Joe loaded Julie in his car and drove her to the Police
Station. There Joe found a Police Sergeant and a female
dispatcher. He told his story and had Julie fill in the
blanks. A Police Officer brought Jughead to the Police
Station. Eventually, Julie's mom was brought to the
station. The Sergeant talked to the adults in the
situation, and then he sat Julie down and talked to
her. He asked her where she wanted to go.

"I don't want to go home with them."

The Sergeant pursed his lips and walked out of the
room, leaving Julie alone. He then found Joe and sat
him down.

"I know this man" the Sergeant explained. "He's a local
drunk, who somehow keeps a job. He usually moves in
with some woman and they fight a lot. It looks like
history is repeating itself. The girl doesn't want to
go home. I usually wouldn't make this request, but
you're a firefighter. I think I can trust you. And I
only make this request because I know the local social
worker would have the girl placed by herself in a room
at the local hospital. How would you feel about taking
the girl for the weekend?"

"Weekend?"

I don't know what kind of plans you have, but could you
do it, bring her back, say, Tuesday. Give me a chance
to better look at this?"

"Uh, I guess."

"Let me talk to the girl."

A moment later, the Sergeant brought Julie into the
room where Joe waited. Joe stood up.

"Are you okay?" Joe asked.

"I guess." she answered.

"You okay with spending the weekend with me?"

Julie shrugged her shoulders. Joe led her from the room
and the Police station. After they got in his car, he
handed her the map quest printout and told her she
could help him find the address he was looking for. She
stared at the map for a long moment.

"Oh, here's your problem. Willowbend Court isn't on the
map" she said.

"What?" he asked.

"They built a new subdivision on the west end of town.
It's not even on the map. I'll show you how to get
there. Take Main street to Coal-that way" she said,
pointing away from the Police station.

Joe followed her directions. Ten minutes later, they
pulled up in front of the address he needed. They got
out of the car and found a note on the door. The note
said an emergency had come up and there was an apology
because they didn't know how to contact him.

"Well, that screws my day" Joe said.

Julie looked at him with confusion. He continued: "I
really don't know these people, they're my second
cousins, or something like that. I came here because a
sister thought it would be a brilliant idea for me to
meet them, and hang out with them. Are you hungry?"

"Starved."

"My place is a couple of hours away. I got turkey and
fixins. Think you can hang in there that long?"

"Sure" she said with a smile.

It was quiet in the car until they were back on the
highway.

"So, where's your wife?" Julie asked.

"My what?"

"Your wife. You're wearing a ring."

"Oh that," he answered, "I'm a confirmed bachelor."

"A what?" she asked.

"Well, you see, eighty percent of men who are confirmed
bachelors are guys who take really great vacations, and
they don't have time for relationships. The other
twenty percent are guys who have known love, and have
given up on ever finding it again."

"So, which one are you?"

Joe smiled. "Which one do you think?"

"You take really great vacations?"

Joe sighed, and then gave her a nutshell description of
his disastrous love life.

"So, you shouldn't give up. There could be someone out
there for you."

"You don't understand, it's too hard, it just hurts too
much. It's okay though, my only regret is that I never
had a child. I had a friend named Sandra once. We had
been friends for years. I thought I could trust her. I
asked her to have a child for me. She basically laughed
at me. If she had really been a friend... our child
would be about your age about now."

He looked over at her and made eye contact. Julie
blushed, and a feeling she had never felt before swept
through her. She looked at the floor and was quiet for
several minutes before she asked about his job. This
changed the atmosphere in the car and lifted the
emotional level from somewhat heavy to light and fun.
Joe talked about the job, his co-workers and the
trucks. Julie was interested and the conversation
lasted until just before he got home.

Once inside the house, the couple went right to the
kitchen. Joe had Julie cut up the salad while he put
together the rest of the dinner-dessert included. In
half an hour they set down to a feast where Julie
stuffed herself like she hadn't in years.

After dinner, they went into the living room where Joe
had Julie pick a movie from his library. Julie was
intrigued by his recent addition-"The Last Mimzy". She
watched the movie with total attention and towards the
end of the movie, where the little girl started crying,
Julie became misty eyed. At movie's end, she stood and
put her hands on her heart. With a smile, she looked at
Joe.

"What?" he asked.

"Thank you," she said.

"For what?"

"This morning, well my day was going to suck, but you
made my day great. Thank you so much."

"You're more than welcome. Thank you for spending the
day with me. I thought my day was going to suck too.
Hey, we better get your room ready, come on."

He led her into a room that obviously hadn't been used
in a while. There was a single bed in the room. He
pulled plastic off of the bed. When he placed it in the
closet, he took out sheets and blankets from the same
closet. The couple then made the bed together. When
they finished that, he took her to the bathroom and
started putting together toiletries for her. When he
pulled out a toothbrush he started telling her that it
from his travel kit, then he got an idea.

He took her into his room and fired up the computer. He
brought up a website for an airline. "Where would you
like to travel?" he asked.

They started talking about possible destinations and
ended up settling on San Francisco. Joe picked a time
and airport, and then put in his credit card
information. Julie was excited, she had only traveled
once, and that only a few hours from home to see a
cousin. This was going to be her first airplane trip.
With the trip confirmed, Joe picked out a large T shirt
for her to use as a night shirt and they made plans to
stop at a Wal-Mart on the way to the airport to get
clothes for her.

The next morning was a mad dash and they were in San
Francisco by early afternoon. After checking into a
hotel, they went to the waterfront. After looking at
several options, they decided on a trip to Alcatraz.
The boat trip was colder than they thought and he
hugged her from behind to conserve body heat. Minutes
after being on the island, they found a tour guide.
Julie drank in the history around her and thoroughly
enjoyed herself.

Back in the city, the couple found their way to
Ghirardelli square. Joe was contemplating dinner when
the unexpected happened. A trio of people stopped in
front of Joe and there was an awkward exchange of looks
before a female in the trio asked: "Joe, Joe Halder?
It's Kris!!"

Joe looked and his mind jumped back twenty years.
Memories of a rock band twenty years earlier washed
through his mind. Joe suddenly recognized the trio as
Kristen, Randy, and another guy whose name was also
Randy, but his nickname was "Beeker" due to his
resemblance to a Muppet of the same name. He remembered
that the time in the group had been acrimonious with
lots of arguing. Joe was surprised to see the trio
together.

"Hey," Joe replied, "what are you guys doing together,
here?"

"We have a gig," Randy replied.

"A gig?" Joe asked, totally surprised.

"The economy tanked in our area, so I called Kris and,
she called everyone. We got back together, and we're on
tour," he explained.

"I tried finding you" Kris added, "but no one had a
current address on you. I tried googling you, but that
was a needle in a haystack. We got a drummer, but he's
not you. Heidi has been doing most of the singing."

"Heidi, where is she?"

"Visiting her sister in Marin," Kris answered. "She'll
be glad to see you. Hey, why don't you play with us
tonight?"

"Yeah!" both of the Randys chimed in. Julie looked at
Joe with a surprised expectation.

"I seem to remember a lot of arguing. Besides, don't
you already have a drummer?"

"He picked up a groupie in L.A. He'd appreciate a night
off, to..." Randy said.

"And as far as the arguing thing" Kris added, "we were
kids then. We're adults now. If we argue, well, it's
expensive. This is about the money. I think you'll
recognize the songs. We still play Led Zep, RUSH, and
Triumph-by the way, you were right about that. Why
don't you play with us?"

Joe looked at Julie. Joe pulled Julie to his side.
"Everyone, I want you to meet Julie. Julie is kind of
on loan to me. They're trying me out as a foster father
of sorts. Julie, this is Kris-she plays keyboards, and
this is Randy and Beeker. They are great guitarists.
Twenty years ago, we were really something. For a few
months, we played to packed houses, but..."

"But we argued a lot," Kris continued, "Joe was a great
drummer. He sang most of our songs. He got us our first
few gigs. Without him.., come on Joe, Play with us."

"Yeah Joe," Julie chimed in.

"Three hours later, the group was onstage. Joe sat
behind the drums. Bass guitarist Heidi opened the show
with a trio of Pat Benatar songs, and then she
introduced Joe to the audience. As Beeker sounded out
the first notes of Stairway to Heaven on a twelve
string guitar, Kris added color with her synthesizer.

Joe came in singing the lyrics while Julie stood to his
right behind a microphone. Not familiar with the songs,
she jumped in on refrains. The power of the song, as
well as others to follow, caught Julie by surprise. The
effect was intoxicating. Julie often rocked to the
music, and sometimes danced. At the ninety minute mark,
the group finished their set and dashed offstage for a
quick break.

The crowd screamed for an encore and the group obliged.
After the second song though, the group ran out of
rehearsed songs and for another hour the group engaged
in what was essentially a jam session. The truth of the
group's musical chemistry came out as the songs played
were seamless and looked well rehearsed. Finally, the
group closed with "Keep on Rockin in the Free World".

The group told the audience "Good Night," took their
final bows, and headed offstage. Tired, but jubilant,
the group shared hugs and were complimentary of both
Julie and Joe. Joe gave in and agreed to play with the
group in their next gig, the next night in Monterrey.

That night in the hotel, after the couple showered,
Julie lay next to Joe in his bed. Julie took his left
hand, and holding it in hers, she rubbed his hand
affectionately. Like the night before, she thanked him
for the day. Humbly, Joe told her that he was enjoying
her company and thanked her for being on the trip with
him.

"Joe, you should join the group on the tour" she told
him.

"I know it's a lot of fun" he replied, "but..."

Julie looked up at him. "You've been making me think
about being a parent," he continued. "Someone like you
needs a stable home. When we get back I'm going to talk
to that Police Sergeant and see about being a foster
parent. I might get lucky and get to adopt you someday,
or some other kid. They'll only take me serious if I
have a stable job and home. Living on the road won't
let that happen."

Julie kissed his hand, and then looked up at Joe. Lost
in the moment, he leaned forward and shared a long kiss
with her. He felt a stirring in his loins and pulled
back from her. Julie looked at him with curiosity. He
pulled back the covers and climbed under.

"Good night," he dismissively said.

Julie picked up on the clue and retreated to her own
bed.

The next day they took the harbor tour and saw the
Golden Gate Bridge. In mid afternoon they lit out for
Monterrey, seeing the sights along the way. That
night's concert wasn't the event that the prior night's
concert was. Still, a large time was had by all.

Midday, the next day, Julie and Joe were on a flight
home. That evening they settled in from the trip,
washing clothes and relaxing. The next morning, Joe
took Julie out on a day out on the town. They went to
an upscale mall, had lunch in a steakhouse, and took an
afternoon walk in a nature preserve.

That evening, after dinner, Julie followed Joe into his
bedroom. Joe saw a look in her eyes he hadn't seen
before.

"Is something wrong?" he asked.

Julie took his hand and had him sit on the edge of the
bed. Julie was looking at him with a look of fear and
apprehension. She was clearly very nervous.

"Is something wrong?" he repeated.

Julie took his hand and kissed it. "Joe, I need you to
love me."

"I do. I'll always love you. Nothing you say or do will
change that."

A tear trickled down her cheek. She kissed his hand
again. He pulled her close and hugged her.

"Hey" he whispered, "It's alright."

Julie looked him in the eye, and then placed his hand
on one of her small breasts.

"Julie," he whispered.

"I know you've given me a lot, so much. Please give me
this one last thing."

"Julie, I could go to jail."

"Only if I tell someone. I won't tell anyone, I
promise. Please love me."

He looked in her eyes and a thousand emotions washed
through him. He had once considered something illicit
like this, but worried that the girl would tell
someone, but this girl was different, this time was
different. He placed his hand behind her neck and
pulled her face to his. They shared a smoldering kiss.
Her hands caressed his shoulder blades. He reached down
and found the bottom of her shirt. He pulled up on the
shirt. She raised her arms up to help him take the
shirt off. He laid the shirt next to her and looked at
her.

She had small breast mounds topped with small light tan
nipples. He leaned in and started kissing her neck. He
laid her back and worked down to her breast buds. While
he suckled on her, his hands found her belt buckle and
opened it, then her pants. He slid her pants off, and
then found the waistband of her panties. As he slid her
panties off, he could see that she was growing a dozen
hairs in her pubic area.

He lowered his head between her legs and tasted her
sex. Julie let out a loud moan and exhaled noisily. He
tongued her slit, paying attention to her clit and
vagina. Julie's breathing became more intense. He
inserted a finger in her. She arched her back and
moaned loudly again. He started poking her with his
finger. She suddenly let out a scream and bucked on the
bed. He pulled back for a moment and started
undressing. Julie looked up and smiled, "that was
great" she said.

He smiled back at her. She watched him undress,
marveling when she saw his erect dick. She had heard
girls talk about "it" at school. This was the first
penis she had seen outside of a sex education class in
school.

He walked over to a nightstand and opened the drawer.
He took a condom out, opening the wrapper. He took the
condom out of the wrapper and tried to put it on.
Having a little difficulty, he had an idea and asked
"Wanna do the honors?"

She crawled over to the edge of the bed. She took the
condom and sat on the edge of the bed. She put the
condom on, carefully unrolling it the length of his
dick. She kissed the tip of his dick, then eased back
onto the bed. He followed her onto the bed. He began
kissing her, easing his mid section on top of hers. He
rubbed his dick against her pubic mound. Julie mewed
and wrapped her legs around his waist. Her breathing
became rapid again and Joe felt his arousal building.
He stopped kissing her and started lining himself up.

Her vagina was small and it wasn't easy getting his
dick to enter her. She tried pushing with her hips. It
took several minutes, but he finally got the head of
dick in her. Julie gasped. He gave her a moment to get
used to his girth, then he pushed in another inch. She
gasped and winced.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Yeah," she whispered.

He pushed another inch and paused again. She was
wincing, but the three inches were all he needed to
work with. He started pumping her pussy, using just the
three inches. She continued to wince but he could see
in her facial expression that it wasn't just pain she
was experiencing.

He made sure to be gentle and he took his time. Her
breathing was rapid and she had closed her eyes. He
felt his arousal building and he increased his tempo.
Suddenly he began shooting his load, emptying it into
the condom.

He withdrew from her with a pop. He collapsed next to
her and let his breathing return to normal. She cuddled
up next to him, draping a leg over him. Gently, she
traced her fingers over his face.

"You okay?" he asked.

"It hurts a little, but I'm fine."

After a few minutes he slipped the condom off and
pulled back the covers. They climbed in together and
cuddled. After a little while, they fell into the peace
of slumber.

In the morning, Julie moved slowly, reluctantly. It was
time to go home and she didn't want to go. The past
four days had been the best days of her life. She was
afraid of retaliation from her mom's boyfriend. She was
afraid of ugliness from her mother. Everything about
going home was going to be unpleasant. While packing
the items Joe bought her, she sobbed. Joe saw her in
pain and it made him hurt. He knew he had to get her
back to Smithville, so he eased her out of the house.
In the driveway she stopped and started at a full cry.

"Joe, no, please no."

"Kiddo, I'm so sorry, we have to do this."

When her crying had eased, he continued "We have to go
back. We can't be fugitives. I'm not going to just drop
you and forget you. I'll visit you every chance I get.
If I could get you away from your mom...I wish I knew a
way."

They hugged and shared a long kiss. He picked up her
bag and got her in the car. The drive back to
Smithville was quiet, save for a few crying jags that
Julie had. When they reached the Smithville Police
Department, they went in reluctantly and from the
receptionist's reaction, were clearly anticipated.

A moment later, the Sergeant appeared and ushered them
back to his office. He left them alone for a few
minutes, saying he had to get something. Joe got a
little nervous, considering what had happened the night
before. When the Sergeant reappeared, he had a woman
with him, whom he introduced as Social Worker Karen
Coleman. The Sergeant had everybody sit, then he said:
"We have news."

He paused a few seconds, then continued: "On Sunday
night, Julie's mom and her boyfriend were arrested.
They were driving drunk and resisted arrest. During a
search of the car we found pot. We also found items
belonging to his employer. When we checked, we found
they had broken into his employer's business. They're
going away for awhile. That means that Julie needs to
be placed."

He gestured to Karen, clearly giving her the floor.

"During the past few days, I did some checking. Mister
Halder, I checked your records and I must say, it's
impressive. Normally, in Julie's case, we'd place her
in a foster home, but right now all the county homes
are full. In this case I'm authorized to use emergency
placement. Mister Halder, how would you feel about
taking Julie on a provisional basis?"

Julie looked at Joe with happiness and surprise. Joe
sensed an uncertainty in her last words and sought a
clarification: "Can you define provisional?" he asked.

"Provisional" she explained, "will be three to four
months, but you'll have to check in with me every
month."

"How about if things are going well with us? Can we go
beyond the provisional period?"

She thought for a moment, then pulled some papers out
of her briefcase. "Fill these out" she answered. "It's
a foster parent application. I already have your
background, so if you bring this next month, I can
expedite the process. I don't anticipate any problems
with the local judge, especially considering your
background."

Joe took the application.

"Any other questions?" Karen asked.

Joe shook his head.

"So, I guess we're done here," the Sergeant chimed in.

The meeting broke up and Joe Led Julie out of the
building. He could tell she was about to explode with
enthusiasm. After he placed her in the car he leaned in
and warned her: "Be cool until we're clear of here.
We're close and don't want to blow it now, okay?"

When he got in the car, he had her give directions to
her house so she could get her things. A minute into
the drive she asked: "Hey Joe?"

"Yeah?" he replied.

"Since we're going to my place, can you do me a favor
when we get there?"

"Sure."

"Remember what we did last night?"

"Yeah."

"Let's do it on my mom's bed."

"I don't know, your mom's boyfriend is disgusting. How
about if we do it on your bed and leave the door open?"

"Okay," she replied with a smile.

EPILOGUE

For thousands of years men married girls aged twelve to
fifteen. This was necessary because child birth is
traumatic to the body and young teens bounce back
quickly from traumatic injuries. It was the explosion
of child pornography in the late 1970's that caused a
change in the culture. Child advocates suddenly
appeared, causing a sea change in laws. Almost
overnight, the admirer of young flesh became the
boogeyman.

Lately men have been punished for doing what they have
been doing for thousands of years. Overlooked in all of
this is not only nature, but also the true feelings of
the girls for whom these laws were created. What
started me thinking this was an interview I saw in the
paper in 2001. A local high school had been the
National Champion of the Academic Decathlon for two
years running. Naturally, the five girls on the team
finished at the top of their graduating class. In the
interview, four of the five girls on the team said they
weren't looking forward to working for the next thirty
to forty years.

Yes, the feminist revolution is rejected by some
females, and not just those who drop out of school and
live in trailer parks, but also those from upper middle
class homes with bright futures. It is because of this,
and a belief in young passionate females that I write
these kinds of stories. When I was in High School, I
found out that I wasn't just competing with other High
School guys for female attention, I was also competing
with affluent grown males who were marrying underage
girls left and right. I saw girls as young as twelve
marry grown men.

A history teacher once told me that the pendulum swings
back and forth on cultural changes. A conservative
society evolves into a liberal society, then eventually
back to a conservative society. In the 1970's children
were considered property in some jurisdictions. The
outlawing of child pornography, and the Traci Lords
pornography scandal in 1985 caused a passage of laws
that not only protected, but empowered children.

Children deserve protection, but they also deserve the
chance to follow their hearts and feelings. The
puritanical zeal to punish "offenders" who hurt
children, has also punished parents who have taken
innocent pictures of their children in the bathtub.
These parents have been separated from their children
and labeled sex offenders. Some parents have been
forced to live in other countries to avoid prosecution.
The zeal to protect children has become an out of
control crusade that sometimes tramples on the
innocent. Thank God the First Amendment still exists.

There are great many Lolita stories out there, but the
majority of them are poorly constructed. A child
doesn't understand discretion and this is why child
molesters get caught and many Lolita stories fall on
their face. In order to construct the perfect Lolita
story, first you have to separate the girl, emotionally
and physically, from her family and friends.

If you don't, the girl will tell someone about her
romance, then the jig is up for the guy. Second, you
have to make the girl and man emotionally dependent on
each other. It helps if you can create a situation
where the girl and man have a situation where they can
grow their relationship away from the prying eyes of
those who would call the cops, or social services, to
check out the May/December romance. Lastly, you must
develop an escape hatch for both parts of the
relationship, in case one or the other decides to move
on.

I hope that you enjoyed this story. If you have, I have
an entire library of stories at asstr.org that you can
peruse. Please support the First Amendment, and vote
responsibly-or we can kiss the right to read and write
such stories goodbye.
