Believe it or not, I watched the silent film Sunrise (1927) last night. I am a silent film nut. Sunrise is one of the greatest films ever made--sound or silent.

Just saw Prometheus last night...if you enjoyed Alien/Aliens...fantastic movie! Outstanding acting by almost the entire cast, great directing (Ridley Scott is awesome!) and very well written. Lots of fun too to try and catch all of the little hidden easter eggs in the movie...there's one that you wont catch unless you wait until all of the credits have rolled. Really a great movie. I'll probably go catch it again.

For me, the most recent movie in a theater - "Dark Shadows". I liked it quite a bit, actually.

A month ago I saw "The Artist" for a second time - at an old (1920s) theater. It was the perfect way to see a movie like that, I think.

I watched one of Hitchcock's silent films he made in England before he came over the big pond. I watched "The Lodger" partly based on Jack the Ripper. Pretty good film. Hitch was a master storyteller

Brigit, I guess I'll have to watch "The Lodger". I've always loved Hitchcock's 1930's British films ("The Lady Vanishes", "The Man Who Knew Too Much", etc.), but I guess I've always associated him with too much with the way his movies sound, and I should definitely give his silent movies a try. I really like Fritz Lang's silent movies, so I guess I should add Hitch's silents to my list of movies to see.

FWIW, whenever I think of Hitchcock, I instantly remember the first music hall scene in "The 39 Steps" where Mr. Memory is doing his show. It would have been tough to do a scene like that in a silent movie.
