I was not able to use the gallery or blog section is that because i am new here?

Full access used to be available to members after their 50th post. The Playground is a good place to boost your post count, as is posting comments to stories.

It probably started as a way to weed out spammers and people who had a passing interest, but I'm not a mod and not sure if the old rule still applies.

The way it used to work is, after posting your 50th time (the post count is on the left, under your name/avatar), contact the mods by private message or by posting here and one of them will modify your settings, assuming your membership is verified. I looked for the info about unlocking the forum, but I didn't find it... probably just looked in the wrong places.
