stars pockmark the sky
handfuls of tiny diamonds
flung on black velvet

cool night breezes brush
flushed, overheated skin
heat near visible

souls touching, minds meet,
spirits mingle, soaring up
joining the bright stars

scent of white roses,
honeysuckle, tuberoses
caressing the air

Master and his muse
joining in mind and spirit
across many miles

bodies that cannot
touch, diminishing not the
deep intimacy

soul-searing passion
overcoming the miles and
obstacles that intrude

passion that only
knows its own striving for the
perfect completion

souls, known to each other
since the beginning of time
seeking the sweet union

denied the wholeness
of physical expression
in this life. Cruel fate.

Yet, the bond growing
stronger, deeper, more vibrant
feeding on itself

souls, separate, yet --
despite the circumstances --
inseparable

time and space bereft
of their powerful hold, here
in this secret place

this garden existing
solely in the minds and hearts
of the two lovers

here they meet, rushing
to embrace and to explore
all the "should-have-beens"

soaring like eagles
on the gentle currents of
cool peace and hot need

inevitable
as the eastern sun rising.
Next lifetime, my Love.

These words sent my mind racing with all the images
of their true meaning.

Feeling the intesity of each word, each phrase as
they touch your inner most thoughts.

Like two hearts calling out to each other across
the distance to still join and blend with a Synchronicity
of spirit.

Simply stated it's a gift that's the most special kind.

I search the number
Haiku squared
Three lines times three
It goes beyond

Beats seventeen
Upon itself
Not enough
To square it up

Haiku meter
Once each verse
But lacks the spirit
One thought so terse!

Geez Rose-Now you done gone and brought tears
to my tired old eyes. I have someone
exactly like that. A soul mate that I can
only hope that there will be another life
in which to bond physically as well as
spiritually. We are bound in this life but
separated by circumstance. There is seldom
a day that goes by that I do not wish it
were otherwise.

Thanks very much.

BadlyBent,
Thank you. If i had to name one goal for my poetry, beyond its function as a personal catharsis for me, it would be for someone to read it and say, "Yeah, that's just how it is." i am glad that i could touch you with my words.
