Those embarrassing fad and fashion moments or "What was I thinking?"

At one point or another, most of us have had a hair style, clothing style or something that looking back we have to be embarrassed about. Some of us bought in to a fad like pet rocks or Furbies. We have danced a silly dance or done something else that today makes you go:

So what was your "What was I thinking?" moment?

1979-The Village People were one of the hottest singing groups in the county. Their lead singer wanted to leave. I rushed down to the church (sang in the choir) and I put together an audition tape that I sent in.

I never heard back from them.
    MULDER:
    What do I do?
I'm a key figure in an ongoing
government charade. An annoyance to my
superiors. A joke among my peers.
"Spooky," they call me. Spooky Mulder.

little green men with a badge and a
gun and shouting to the heavens or anyone who will listen and fix this in; that the sky is falling. And when it hits, it will be the shitstorm of all time"

Hmmm....well, things change over the years, so pretty much anything we wear, will look a little weird in 10, 20 years time.

If I think back, there have been some pairs of glasses that I wore as a kid that just screamed out "NERD!". But, generally, I can't think of anything totally cringe-worthy.

I still don't get why people think a powder blue tux is bad. I was man enough to wear one in 1978 and never gave it a second thought.

it's not the color it's the style it's just the ruffled shirt that goes with it.

When I actually think about it, I wore a purple suede tux to my senior prom.

See I think the problem with "what was I thinking moments" is the ability to feel shame at what you did. I work at a local convenience store and the girls and I there act a fool nearly every day we work. The customer's know we're dorks and they love us anyways!

But to stay on topic, I must admit that during the big bang days (the girls will know what I'm talking about) I used to get mine pretty high. I am so glad those days are a distant and nearly painless memory!

I found some old ass photos the other day (after moving) and discovered!

I was dressed in my platform shoes, polyester disco shirt, polyester checkered pants(bell bottoms)
and a damn pimp ass hat i found somewhere.

Now talk about what was I thinking!

My Mother bought me a "Leisure Suit" in the late 1970's, and wanted me to be like
"John Travolta" in "Saturday Night Fever."

I never wore it, then she recently sold it to the two guys from "American Pickers."

They gave her two dollars, and sold it for five.

I have jet black hair (well, I did when I was in high school, now my hair is a dirty blah brown). Back in 1991-2, I dyed a chunk of my hair blonde. And for some reason I thought the bumble bee look was hot. Wrong!

I wore a pair of painfully tight, white pants that had no zipper or buttons up the front. They secured with a string like shoelaces. And, I was carrying a few extra pounds at the time. This isn't a "what was I thinking" moment. It was a "what the FUCK was I thinking" moment!

The white pant's, white Adidas trainer's, Pink Shirt with a popped collar, and Designer sunglasses, bad fake tan, and a faux hawk.

When I look at those pictures now I tell myself I look like a tool.

But as I think about it I have a lot of those What was I thinking/how much did I drink last night moment's, that I have no regrets about.

Aww I can't picture you in nerd glasses.. well glasses at all. PICTURES ASAP? Haha

When I was like 15ish I had hair down to my ass LONG and pretty and my mom told me I couldn't cut it so I went out and got it cut up to my chin. MY face was still chunky at the time so I got it short enough that it like kinda curled under. I felt like I belonged on startrek haha. LUCKILY it grew out fast.

When I was in my late teens I took a micro bikini on my first holliday abroad (have you seen my profile photo?) I was bright red for the first week and it was not from exposure to the sun!!! as it only just covered my nipples and every time I moved suddenly everything popped out, much to the pleasure of the men. Needless to say I soon purchased another more modest one.

I was persuaded to pose in a lacy dancing skirt and nothing else just after my nineteenth birthday while I went through my routine. Imagine the blushes when the pictures were shown round.

When I was ten years old, Rat tails were the fad that all boys had to have back in 1985. My aunt used to cut my hair for free and I begged her for one. But, never got it. And yes I did thank her for it...25 years later :P
